Things you should know before buying New Balance 2002R Mirage Grey
Overview
New Balance has been all the hype lately. Say bye-bye to Nike Dunks and Hello! to New balances. With well-timed collaborations and premium materials, New Balances are here to stay. Today I’ll be reviewing the second iteration of the 2002R Protection pack, one of the most sought-after colorways!
Materials
New Balances are well-known for its premium materials. The Mirage Grey colorway is no exception. The upper of the sneaker consists of three layers to give off that worn-out, jagged look that the Protection Pack is famous for. The bottom layer is a baby-blue colored mesh to improve the breathability of the sneaker. The mesh is found near the toe-box and around the heels as well.
The second layer is a reflective material made out of 3M. This layer is grey and can be found on the toe box and around the ankle as well. This adds the vibes of a high-vis jacket, which goes well with the look that New Balance is going for! The sparring use of this materials made the sneaker pops without drawing too much attention.
Last but not the least, the third layer consists of suede with a darker shade of grey than the second layer. This layer wraps around the whole sneakers with rugged edges and sharp corners. This layer is the main piece of the sneaker. The suede is high-quality and feel premium.
Now let’s talk about the sole. New Balance’s regular foam-lined insole is implemented. The midsole uses N-ergy and Abzorb Sbs cushioning to provide comfort for the wearer. The outsole is a layer of black rubber, made to look worn with white dust.
Sizing
New Balance 2002R protection pack runs true to size. Although if you have a wider foot, a size-up would feel more comfortable as the sneaker is quite narrow.
